It therefore includes some technical terms that may not be easily understood by others. For WBT members curious about our translation process, here is a concise description of what we are doing: In the 11-language Aitape West translation project, normal adaptation is done for the related languages, but in going from the coast languages (which are mutually related) to the inland languages (which are very typologically distinct), we use a front translation in a language of wider communication as in intermediate step. Advisers check for accuracy at each step of the process. |
